Sometimes I wish I looked more like my best friend, Aiden. She’s pretty and studious-looking. People naturally assume she’s smart. I’m almost 6 feet tall, blond, and I’ve been told several times (usually while a guy is groping me) I look like I just had fabulous sex. Something about how my facial features are arranged, I guess.
I’ve used my looks to my advantage when I can, because hey, you gotta make the best use of your assets. It still pisses me off that I have to keep proving my intelligence.
Not that I’ve ever had to prove my intelligence to Archer. He’s never shown the slightest personal interest in me or any other of his female employees. I don’t think he poaches from his own preserve. But he also went through a messy divorce the year before I got here. Word is, he doesn’t date at all.
Archer’s office is on the second floor, all the way at the end of the hall. That floor is all about wowing clients. Richly carpeted hallways. Gorgeous wood paneling. Framed paintings by Montana artists on the walls.
I paused outside his door. It’s solid enough you have to give it a good whack to be heard. My hand hovered in the air for a second before I took a final deep breath and smacked it hard.
The door jerked open a few seconds later. Archer stared at me, brows lowered in a massive scowl. “Jenna? What are you doing here?” he rumbled.
I should explain that Archer is big.
Not only tall – at 6 foot 6 inches, he’s one of the few men I know taller than me even when I’m wearing my Badgley Mischka 5-inch heels. He’s also built like a bull. Broad shoulders, deep chest. Oh, and a bass voice. When he talks, unless he’s roaring, he’s rumbling. Or growling.
He’s hot as hell. It pisses me off that I find him so attractive, especially when he acts like I’m dirt under his size 13 boots.
“Can I come in?” I asked. My voice was steady, thank God.
He stepped back, opening the door and waving me in. I’ve only been in there a handful of times. It’s set up like a combination home office and living room.
A massive desk and oversize executive chair sit in front of a floor-to-ceiling window, which has a killer view of the mountains. When he has meetings, he moves people to a grouping of comfy leather chairs and a leather sofa around a low table. He likes to set potential clients at ease before he moves in for the kill. The man is just plain devious.

I am absolutely thrilled to have found this amazing author! I have so many highlights in this kindle book it is going to be so difficult to choose my favorite ones. I use my number of highlights to help me rate my books and this book should be rated 10 it is that good, in my opinion.Jenna and Arthur are both scarred in their own ways, but they seem to be soul mates and wired the exact same way. Give and take, their relationship based on trust from their first encounter in his office. I loved the secondary cast of characters, the back story of Aiden and her men Tank and Gunner, and the workmates at the office. The suspense and the comedy and of course all the kinky sex, this book had it all in spades!!!!

The way I know I love a book is when little errors in grammar or names or use of a word repetitively (clitty) doesn't bother me -- I can skim over those things because the story is good enough to carry over all of those things. That is the mark of a good author/story. I don't give out five star reviews lightly. I normally won't go over a five star review unless I would pick up the authors other books and read them because I loved the story so much. Though this was the second in a series, for which I didn't read the first book, it is a standalone that you can read separately. You pick up everything you need to know within the first chapter to set up the rest of the book. I loved the characters and how even though the male and female protagonists had issues it never tore them apart, they simply stumbled at times. I liked the fifty shades of grey books, and LOVED the story line, but the wording/grammar and use of the phrase "oh my" made me give it a 3/4 star rating. Even though the use of "clitty" was used far too much for my liking (PLEASE just call it clit, I thought to myself) I could get over that because the story was really good...The grammar, names and everything else were clear and the story was edited well. Overall I highly recommend this author. Ms. Ansevi, you've sold me on your other books with this one. Nice work.
Jenna is my kind of gal... witty, smart and knows what she wants, although a bit shy about commitment, but hey, nothings wrong with that. I enjoy reading strong female characters in an industry where they are often portrayed as weak and easily manipulated. This book has fun, naughty things going on between Jenna and Archer, but also a plot... which is refreshing. I found no noticeable grammatical errors to get hung up on. Enjoyable read!
I love men not afraid to explore their sexuality and women who have a spine. Just reading the blurb, I thought this was going to be some vapid secretary/boss romance--totally predictable. It was not. Kept me engaged with the lackluster, mystery plot peppered throughout and the characters felt grounded in the real world (real issues, actions, and reactions). I'll definitely read more of Devi's work.
Loved Jenna. She is feisty, outspoken and unapologetic. I loved it that she left Archer, your typical smooth suave (rich) business man at a loss for words sometimes, but you have to give him his due, he steps up to plate.
Fate's arrow is funny, sexy and quite different from the first book in the series, but I thoroughly enjoyed both.
This is certainly one hot and steamy read. Fate’s arrow follows the story of Jenna who loves a romp with a guy but is not so keen on long term commitments. That is until she meets the handsome Archer who manages to break down her walls. He’s her boss and his office is just one of the places where they explore each other, which is a lot! This book is not all sex however, there is some story and depth to be had as well. The whole way through you’re wondering who Jenna’s stalker is and the author manages to create an excellent rapport and believable relationships between Jenna and her friends and co-workers. An enjoyable read.
I guess the first thing I should say is that this is definitely one for the ladies. It has all the ingredients that the modern woman likes in a romance novel, sex, (pretty hot at that) An upright, good looking male, a feisty female M/C and a sub plot that bubbles along quite nicely. Most of the book relates to the aforesaid affair, but just when your beginning to think, 'this is a tad too long' the book bursts into life with a big twist that revives the whole thing quite nicely.
Its all well written, has a little bit of roller coaster and good inter relationships between the characters.
I shall put it on my own GR groups shelf because I know it will appeal to my female groupies.
Second in the Soulmates series, Fate's Arrow certainly didn't disappoint! This continuation features Jenna, Aiden's wildchild bestfriend from Their Wish List, and Archer her "pompous" boss. The story begins in the first book, but this could be a standalone. I loved how this was so different from the first book, but still so hot and spicy. I also enjoyed that there was a little suspense and a little mystery mixed in. I look forward to reading more about both relationships. Fingers crossed for HEAs!
